Recently I was at Stonehenge for a Fire Festival. French artists were given access to the site and created a walk through with fire. They surrounded the site with fire and hung it with burning cloth pieces. Strong work that captured the site. From this I created a video work that includes a short story that I wrote about death picking you from the crowd, taking your measurements, sharing your breath..laughing and walking away.
There is a long an a short version of the work.
My studio in Annandale in the old hayloft above a disused stables behind The Abbey. It is a wonderful place to work quietly. This painting uses 2 paintings sliced and woven together, gold leaf, a story of love written within and clouds sprayed silhoette.
This series of collages are being created mixing elements of the domestic with images of architecture and patterns. This is a mix of kitchen colanders from the Blue Mountians and the interior of the Blue Mosque. These, and other images can be bought online as prints on archival papers on http://www.saatchionline.com/profiles/portfolio/id/312280
This three panel work is based on photographs taken in the Kings private chapel in the Palias du Justice in Paris. A room of gold and stained glass. I felt I was sitting inside a jewelbox.
The Puppet Girls of Shanghai is a still from a small animated video where the women who featured in the 1930's on advertising in China on anything western are used on puppets and they travel/fly around the desert. The women have an intentional queer subtext that comes directly from the 'orient' views of China in the 1930s.
These images are taken randomly in the studio and show some of the images and ideas that I am currently working with. I will keep updating these and discuss some of the ideas at regular intervals. So keep checking!
