The Great Big Colour-in and Story Book.
This project completes a year of working with The Melbourne Athenaeum. The initial project to begin their year of 175 years was Athena#3, a large scale projection work for White Nights 2015. This project includes images and videos that play with the images and ideas of the engagement transformed into elements of book sculptures placed through out the library.
The video pieces work with existing film footage for the original Ned Kelly movie shown at the Athenaeum, as well as new dance and mask works, text pieces and images built from the 'trickster' projects that explore the hidden in architecture and landscape. This image is one from the colour in book that is a vital element of the exhibition.
This work is Wrapped in Story, and uses a costume created from calligraphy practice mats and burned pages of books cut from the book sculptures. There are 10 short videos within the sculptures to explore the ideas of what is hidden within the fantasy of knowledge. The videos will be linked to this site soon.
